Job description

Full-time (37.5h) / Permanent

Based in Islington, London

Greenpeace UK is an independent national/regional organisation within the global Greenpeace campaigning network, which acts to change attitudes and behaviour, to protect and conserve the environment and to promote peace. The global network of Greenpeace organisations comprises 26 independent national/regional Greenpeace organisations with presence in over 55 countries across Europe, Africa, the Americas, Asia and the Pacific, as well as a coordinating and supporting organisation, Greenpeace International.

This Events Coordinator role is an ideal opportunity for someone with a proven understanding of the festival environment and event planning to help us plan and execute events and look ahead regarding future projects and partnership building.

Among your many challenges will be the need to support and review the planning of major events, streamline the process, act as admin support and liaise with all parties and stakeholders to keep them informed as necessary.

Along the way, you’ll work closely with the Events Manager, taking on their duties when needed. We’ll also rely on you to help with the smooth running of our operations at festivals and events other than Glastonbury. Ultimately, it’s a role that involves taking a hands-on approach, supporting a busy Events team and working behind the scenes to provide an engaging festival and event experience.

Location: Islington, London. Our hybrid working model enables us to enjoy the benefits of both office based and remote working. We ask that staff work from the office in Islington 40% of their time, with 20% required as a minimum. Reasonable adjustments as well as specific office based needs will be considered for those with long term health conditions and disabilities.

Job requirements

You'll have:

  • Some experience of working at festivals and major events, including acting as the bridge between financial supporters and other types of supporters.

  • Ability to be practically minded, super organised, can develop efficient processes for yourself and others to use and happy to muck in to help the team make our events a success.

  • A willingness to wok on-site regularly at weekends during the festival season. (Please note that overtime is not paid, however time off in lieu is available).

  • The ability to think creatively and look for improvements to tried and tested approaches plus the confidence to share your ideas and not be afraid to test them.

  • A natural communicator who can develop good working relationships with a range of people.

  • Calmness under pressure, the flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances and a flair for finding a solution to a problem.

  • A team player who is happy to take on different roles in different situations, supporting or leading as required.

We give you:
You’ll be encouraged to develop both personally and professionally, taking advantage of the wide range of learning and development opportunities available to our staff. We offer great benefits such as a generous pension scheme, subsidised lunches, free yoga and a wealth of well-being resources, just to name a few.
